The Verve – Velvet Morning Lyrics 15 years ago
one summer when we used to go off to the forest and have a mad night on pills and shit this song was played in the morning, and i swear it seemed as though it was written for the very purpose of that moment. a velvet morning, to me, is when your beginning to come down and the sun is rising through the trees (last pill + yes im coming down reference). the surreal confidence driven realisations you experience when you have the kind of nights i did seemed 110% compatible with every word in these lyrics.
this song is about that crystallizing moment where reality spirals so far away from recognition that everything feels, not perfect, but right and you question things that seemed fundamental to life before.

another velvet morning for me eh

Oasis – Live Forever Lyrics 16 years ago
while obviously the song means what it means to the listener and thats the end of that can none of you see this as a sonng about life on a broader spectrum? "maybe i dont really wanna know how your garden grows cos i just wanna fly" to me this relates to the reluctancy to subscibe to "life" as the world sees it. day to day we are all told or made to do things that a man wouldnt otherwise do. schools, jobs, bills, cars, churches, offices, wars? can you not see these as all branches of the same tree, all things that socialisation leads us to in contradiction to our human nature(cos i just wanna fly). They call it growing up, they call it duty but infact all it is, is control. the following lines refer to the feeling of ostrasisation and shame that society binds to those who, by choice or by birth, fail to comply with or meet the demands of this system.

this then builds to the definitive chorus.

"Maybe I just want to fly
I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breath
Maybe I just don't believe (in whatever it is that goes against the above two lines)
Maybe you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever"

to me this song changed my life, if what i have written made any sense to you then the rest needs no explanation, but this song is lyrically as briliant as briliance gets, and to those who want it, or relate to it, holds profound meaning.
