| Sentenced – Nepenthe Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
>when the light of chosen has died >it is time to pay back for their crimes It then says "Imposter!" at the end. The song is about alcoholism but it also speaks about the drink taking away the memories and worries of the past. Nepenthe, I believe, is a drug that causes people to forget stuff. And "catharsis" oftens refers to using artwork, music, or whatever as a way to overcome certain feelings. In this case, it would refer using alcohol to overcome problems in the past. >all the tears and the fears and the lies and the cries of the past >when the light of the chosen has died I guess this is referring to alcohol as the "chosen". I see the "light of the chosen" as being the appeal that alcohol has on the drinker. Thus, there comes a point when alcohol loses it's touch and then they realised they're helplessly hooked or something. Sentenced might have had something else in mind tho. |

| Avenged Sevenfold – Dear God Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Dear God doesn't imply that it's religious even if they weren't. But the fact is, they do sing about religion a lot - Beast and the Harlot, Sounding the 7th trumpet, references to God and praying in afterlife etc. The song is quite self explanatory though. Maybe it can also mean that long distane relationships over the internet don't really work. |

| Avenged Sevenfold – I Won't See You Tonight, Pt. 2 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Obviously it's about a suicide note. I think the second is a reaction to it. After all, both songs are part 1 and part 2 of the same title. But in part 1, before I read the stuff about the bass player who attempted suicide, I thought the "bottles are calling me" was referring to someone taking to alcohol, knowing once they start down that road they will never come back. I wonder if part 2 is from the point of view of a friend of the guy and he is also suicidal after seeing his friend attempt suicide and go insane. There's a reccuring theme about depression and mental health in some of their songs and the way they write them are just epic. |

| Avenged Sevenfold – A Little Piece of Heaven Lyrics | 16 years ago |

It's about a guy who's insecure about his girlfriend. In the video he wants ti marry her but she says no so he kills her and keeps the body because he doesn't want to let go and he doesn't want it to be over. It's about necrophilia (sex with dead people) as well - after all, the guy in the song is messed up in the head from all his insecurities and obsession. Then she comes back from the dead and kills him in revenge so he has to beg to her from hell to get back on earth with her. Then they marry and go on some really random killing spree. All this part is generally about the realms of death and morbidity. Very goth theme. I found the tune catchy but I'm not too keen on the whole raising the dead and gothic thing. But the album was one of the best - that and CoE. |

| Avenged Sevenfold – Seize The Day Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"Seize the day or die regretting the time you lost It's empty and cold without you here Too many people to ache over" and "Silence you lost me, no chance for one more day I stand here alone, no chance to get back home" pretty much sums it all up. Best a7x song ever imo. He was complacent while with her and suddenly he's lost hold of her and now he's wishing he could have another chance or even just one more day. Nothing lasts forever so if you don't make the most of it while you have it, it'll be too late sooner than you think |

I love this song. Besides Seize The Day, this is one of the best. "Sometimes when you're young and always on the run it gets so dark I know that place. Don't be too concerned you've got a lot to learn well so do i, we've got plenty of time" I guess it's about not giving up on life when life doesn't feel like it's worth living for. There a lots of young people who think there's nothing to gain out of life so they start thinking about suicide. It makes sense tho, as A7X writes recurring themes about suicide. "There's nothing here to take for granted with each breath that we take. The hands of time strip youth from our bodies as we fade. Memories remain as time goes on" This has got to be rhe line that sums it all up. The way I see it, they're saying people have no time they can afford to waste (on doing nothing) when they will regret it as they get older. "Somewhere life is good..." The first verse, as what I said before, is talking about not giving up because after the darkness you will emerge into light. |
