Lady GaGa – Bad Kids Lyrics 14 years ago
She's said that for this album, she was inspired by Little Monsters at The Monster Ball.

I think this is song is pretty cheeky and sarcastic. Like what people think about Little Monsters based on the superficial - because of the way we dress and express ourselves - that we're bad kids. When in reality, we are good and really don't do anything wrong just by choosing freedom. (i.e. "I'll hold my breath" being the only threat.)

And obviously Gaga sees how beautiful we are on the inside, and the beauty in our freedom of expression.

I think it's lovely that she wrote this for us.

Lady GaGa – Judas Lyrics 14 years ago
I hadn't even remembered that she was calling it a cultural baptism. When thought of like that, I think yours is an excellent interpretation. And I think that's how a lot of us feel about religion now. There's so much contradiction and hypocrisy in religion now, that it's hard to believe and do the things we are supposed to do when religion seems so corrupt.
Looking at this a lot less literally, not as a metaphor but as Judas being religion (which I have felt betrayed by many times) makes perfect sense. Thank you for posting.

I like this song. But I wonder if she didn't originally write it for Britney Spears, because everything about the melody and lyrics seem like something Britney would sing, to me.

The Kills – Sweet Cloud Lyrics 15 years ago
I didn't take it as literally...
It seems more like, she doesn't really approve of whomever her boyfriend is dating and she upsets her, but only because of how much she loves her brother and wants the best for him and no one will ever be good enough for him in her eyes.
She knows no way to fix her killing... she doesn't know how to start being nice to the girl and feel okay about their relationship, but she knows she needs to because he loves this girl.

Now that I've read everyone else's I'm not sure, and maybe if you look at the whole album it's different but this is how I first interpreted the song.

The Kills – Cat Claw Lyrics 15 years ago
It's definitely about a relationship. I think maybe he cheated on her? Because of "Question, tell what she done" and then "just one 'cause I can't see nothing" which might mean she's so mad she can't see straight. The "Tell me how you felt here" - she wants to know how he feels about the girl he cheated with and why he did it. Or maybe she just thinks he cheated - "If this all goes well you won't have nothing to tell" - and she's hoping he didn't.
And then the "I wouldn't give a fuck but the love here is such a long walk" She wouldn't care if he cheated on her, she's just end it, but they've been together for a long time and been through so much that it's not so easy to just give up.
"Give up for my love 'cause that's too much." She deserves better.
I might be way off, but it seems like it could be about that or a similar situation. And a few of the lyrics I really don't understand at all, maybe they're just words.

The Dead Weather – I'm Mad Lyrics 15 years ago
Does anyone have any ideas on the significance behind "20 days"? Unless it has something to do with 20 days and 20 nights, I'm all out of ideas. But there is a song that goes "20 days and 20 nights I've been a fool", so maybe she has been a fool for awhile, but now that she's figured it out (what kind of person her partner is?), she's mad.

That's the only thing I could come up with...

The Dead Weather – Gasoline Lyrics 15 years ago
This song seems to be about a relationship moving too fast. She's afraid of getting in too deep, she would rather keep being afraid of love than surrender to it, so the "cool your engines" line.

"I don't want a sweetheart. I want a machine" is pretty obvious. She doesn't want love, but something simple, automatic, and guaranteed - something that isn't going to fail. Love usually ends in heartbreak, so she'd rather just have a machine.

"To be soft is too easy. Don't get soft on me." It would be easy to fall in love, but don't. Maybe a sexual reference, as well.

Then she says "I love you the most, I do" ... but then "when you're so close to me, I can smell the gasoline", so assuming this is because a machine uses gasoline, she loves him as a machine. She loves what he can do for her (sexually or otherwise), maybe? Rather than how he makes her feel.

I can also take this as, we've already fucked up and fallen in love, but we're not going to fall into the marriage trap - with kids, a house, etc. so let's just slow down and keep things the way they are.

The Dead Weather – The Difference Between Us Lyrics 15 years ago
Love this song...
It sounds like it's about a relationship with a manic depressive, or maybe the character's own relationship with the fact that she's manic depressive.. "I'm not the way that you found me." "One day I'm happy and healthy, Next I ain't doing so well." "Let's go walk along the edge", etc.

"Let's go where no one can see us and find the difference between us." seems to be a sexual reference to me, the difference being gender. But it could also be about bipolar again, finding the difference between the two people within herself.

And "You can cry like a baby, just let me do what I need to" ... I first thought of rape, but it could be about fighting with yourself internally, you know you're acting crazy, but you do it anyway if the song actually is about bipolar disorder. It really seems to be about that to me, but maybe because I have personal experience with someone with bipolar disorder, that's just how I interpret it. It could have a lot of meanings. Another being just an unhealthy and addictive relationship you can't get out of, like a lot of The Dead Weather's songs seem to be about.

Lady GaGa – Fooled Me Again, Honest Eyes Lyrics 16 years ago
She's allowed to do a cover just like everyone else. And she didn't even do a full cover, she expanded up on it and made it her own.
People like you have such a problem with how "untalented" Lady Gaga is, obviously you don't know anything about her... she's a classically trained musician, and started training at age four. Just because she chooses to do pop music, doesn't mean she's not talented. And it's not only "young people" who like her music.
I don't know. I guess when you win two Grammy awards and have been recognized the world over for your musical and dance abilities, then someone might actually consider what you're saying.
