to me, this song feels alot like 'guilt' you know guilt from what he's done in the past/doing/about to do. not so much about MTM. to me it's like.. It's hard to explain..but I will try =) He's done some terrible things (in his eyes, and possibly in others)in the past. And it's all finally catching up with him (getting back what i gave) and instead of using the 'black-cloud of guilt' metaphor he used Blackbirds, which i personally think is a really nice personification of guilt. alot of the things he explains feel like guilt to me, Hot sweats, shivering in the warm air, 'It traps me inside mistakes I've made', etc. it's destroying him (falling to the floor) And he's trying to make a change 'burying' the 'old' Chester (digging his grave metaphor and 'Lay the sick ones down, the bells will ring Put pennies on the eyes, let the dead men sing ') and starting all over again, 'It's harder starting over Than never to have changed' that's just my feeling though. every one's entitled to hear things differently and interpret it all differently. |

i get the feeling it's about him falling for a girl, Who has no feelings for him (maybe she has feelings for one of his friends) He changes when he's around (forgets behaviour) tries to impress her and looks like a fool etc. it's a gorgeous song, I recently went through something similiar and this song became my anthem for that period of time. he is true talent. |

regardless of what people are hearing, i don't think it's about prison specifically, i think it might just be entrapment in general, that stale cold routine that everyone gets stuck in. She may be using the prison as a metaphor for it. also it may also be relating to falling the same pattern with a certain person as well, we all have those people that we end up going in circles with For Eg Friend, Friend Back stabs/lies, you forgive them, They do it again. that sort of thing you know. but, that's my personal interpretation. everyone gets something different for every song on this site =) After re-listening, It could also be political. |

Sounds like All Is Dream has a massive ego and tiny genitals. Don't come on here, rile fans up then pull the whole 'I'm not here for an argument'. It's not fair to judge a band solely on looks. You keep talking yourself up, 'I could write better lyrics when i was twelve', well, Mr fantastic. why aren't you in the list? why aren't your wonderful, deep, sensitive and insightful lyrics on this site? Go have a toss, and come back when you're in a better mood. |
