In some ways I agree with your evaluation. I believe that it is not about someone dying, but rather him trying to keep her from leaving him. I think that there is some obstacle unbenounced to us, perhaps a family member prohibiting their relationship as in Romeo and Juliet, or maybe another guy trying to take her away from him, kind of like in Phantom of the Opera. She loves him back and does not want to leave him. When he says "When I see your smile, tears roll down my face, I can't replace" I see in my mind her eyes meeting his. She smiles at him half-heartedly because she is forlorn. Tears of joy run his face. He is so happy to see her, to know she loves him and that the thought of leaving him makes her sad, that he cannot help but weep. By repeating "It's okay.", he assures hernot to be afraid of how much she loves him because he loves her with the same intensity and therefore, the relationship will work out. "And now that I'm strong I have figured out How this world turns cold and breaks through my soul And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one" He realizes that she, the girl he is in love with, is now the dansel in distress and that he has to step up if he want to spend the rest of his life, which he obviously does. He truly believes that she is in love with him. In the chorus, he is explaining how he will never, ever let her fall out of love with him because deep inside they both know that he is the one she loves. He's the one who will be standing triumphantly with her, and he's the one who will never leave her. If she dies, then so will he, as long as he's with her. In the next part where he says: "Seasons are changing And waves are crashing And stars are falling all for us Days grow longer And nights grow shorter I can show you I'll be the one" He's trying to tell her that they're not alone. Although the whole human race is working hard to separate them, nature's beauty is working just as hard to keep them together. The following verse is him begging her to stay, so that his efforts to keep them togeth will not be in vain. She is torn because she really does love him, but with many forces are acting against them, she is scared. He says, "Use me as you will Pull my strings just for a thrill And I know I'll be okay Though my skies are turning gray" By this he is yelling to no one in particular like "Do whatever you want with me. I don't care. She loves me. That's what matters" I think the song tells a story of two lovers who try desperately to be together that can't. The way he sings it suggests pain, but gives an uplifiting message. I guess that's just how I see it. |

| I think this song carries a message. It explains how simple, pure, innocent love can be. How losing yourself with someone is the best thing you can ever do. It's reminiscent of lying on a grassy hill, a blue sky with slow-moving clouds overheard, and being with the person you love more than anything else in the world. Listening to this song makes me feel so happy; it makes me think of that special person in my life and how much I care about him. | |
