To take this song literally, it's a song about him watching a show with a drag queen, and ends up pining after 'her' forever more. As Stephin Merritt is gay, maybe it's written from a straight man's perspective, 'I've always been a ladies man' etc. |

This probably isn't what Frightened Rabbit meant it to mean, but I like to think the song is about someone with low self confidence (The Modern Leper), and he finds someone who loves him, and he doesn't understand why. They must be a masochist to love a modern leper. Love jumping and down to this, and can't wait to see them at Shepards Bush. |
