Beautiful, beautiful song. The lyrics mixed with Josh's voice make this song incredibly powerful. The meaning has already been said here more than once, so I won't repeat it. Just a random observation (sorry if it's already been said, I've only read the first page), but the lines between the lyrical parts sounds like they're saying "Pleasin' their boys" (or something along those lines), and then the line where it goes higher-pitched sounds like "Please don't come near me" Anyone else hear that? |

Interesting to hear the story behind this song...I had no idea! Creepy! This always reminded me of the movie "The Sixth Sense", personally. Like, from Bruce Willis' character's point of view. "I wish you neveer told me" <-wishes Cole never told him about seeing ghosts "I wish I never knew" <-not gonna spiol the ending, but yeah made me think of the ending. And then just all about Cole being "scared" of the ghosts and "lonely" because he feels like he can't tell anyone. I'm not saying I thought that was what they based it off of, but it always made me think of that movie. |

Haha, wow I think I took this song way too literally. I took it as, a man kidnaps or rapes a woman, she "runs for her life" and "gets out alive", then she is so traumatized that she begins abducting/torturing/killing people as well ("It's hard to imagine, but someday you'll end up like me.") But, I think I've just been watching too many horror movies/Criminal Minds lately. the drug addiction angle makes the most sense to me. |
