I'm still puzzled as to how nobody else shares my interpretation of these lyrics. Maybe I'm way off, but it seems to me that I'm on to something significant. Given Bemis' religious beliefs and countless other songs with an underlying tone relating to Judaism, The Holocaust, etcetera, I am lead to believe that the cats symbolize Israel and Palestine. Lines like "the feline war has raged for years", as well as countless others, make it nearly impossible to ignore this possible subtext. Because I don't pay attention in government class, and too lazy to utilize google at the moment, I wouldn't be able to tell you the significance of his cousin greg, "this dude", etc. however, I'm sure these 'characters' represent some other countries; maybe not. Who knows? "i watch my neighbor's son play with his shotgun in the street i think i'll blaze all day and marvel at the massive food i eat" I think this implies that if the ignorance or mankind continues at this rate we will eventually become indifferent to the issues of the world. anyone else feel this way? |
