| Paul Simon – I Know What I Know Lyrics

It sounds to me like two people trying to get to know each other and avoiding conflict at the same time. They test each other, but pull back soon after, so they keep it friendly and not intrusive. In general, tehy both want the other to be happy and not feel like they're telling the other how to love their life, they're very simply trying to see if they're compatible..? |

This song sounds like it's about a man who generally takes on the opinions of others, but he decides to finally have his own opinions. He steps back and thinks, "Hey, wait! Everyone has breakdowns, asshole, so get off your ass and do something about it!", and "You don't think you could love me, but thinking about it now, I'm pretty sure you could."
Of course, Paul Simon says it much more eloquently. |

| They Might Be Giants – Dead Lyrics

Maybe it doesn't mean anything, but what I personally take from it is the idea of what we will never know, our regrets. We'll never see ourselves in the mirror with our eyes closed and we'll never know how people will react to our death. It seems like this is a song about being dead in life... Treating your regrets like they're unredeemable and doing nothing-you might as well be dead. Someday when you're on your death bed, you'll regret all the things you never decided you could do.
That's just what I get from it, anyway. |

It IS "what's my name WHITE TRASH what's your name WHITE TRASH" it's not "wanna be" that doesn't make any sense... |

| Babes in Toyland – Sweet '69 Lyrics

It's about the 60's and what's going on in that era. "High cost of living," "Will the planes ever collide?" "Speak free sexually," "Sweet, sweet ride," "My side anti-red?" Pretty obvious.
Although I do think it doubles as a sexual song. |

I interpret this song as she and a guy had a relationship that ended, but now he's back and while he wants her purely for physical reasons (or so he tells her, anyway) he expects her to want him back fully, when she surprises him by being strong and, while she still sleeps with him, she doesn't ask for anything more. "You never thought that a girl could be strong." And this makes him fall for her again, and he wants to be back in her life, but she tells him no, that she doesn't need a repeat of last time.
I also think they secretly both want to be with one another in more than just a physical relationship, but there's no evidence in the song that suggests that, just my imagination. |

I picture a family having, like, a picnic on their lawn in a 40's-50's time when they realized there are mice coming out of their house or something. Like, the underlying creepiness of things most find so charming. I always interpret this as the empty feeling of summer. Most will probably disagree with this, because I've never known someone to dislike summer in the way I do, but this is just my interpretation. In summer it feels like you should be doing something, the sun doesn't go down before you sleep, everything feels sticky and raw, and you're waiting for something to happen, whether that be a fun barbecue or someone poisoning the lemonade. |

I thought he was defying the people doing him wrong by saying things like "I don't like cricket...I love it!" As in: "You're no better than me, I enjoy and feel Jamaica in my bones just like you." Despite the treatment of him by the locals. If you see the music video, the bar woman pushes him into a pool, but from the song I thought that she was flirting with him because he describes her as another "dark voice." |

It's about having a party at the county jail, where this guy spends all of his time, and a fight breaks out, the fight spreads, people are getting hurt all over the place so they send in the national guard to break it up. The narrator is very amused by all this, but not in a stuck-up or sadistic way, he just doesn't seem very bright and enjoys the commotion. |

I thought this was about a couple who were in a struggle of some kind, but then something larger made them sort of...fight together.
In my head it's some kind of hostile alien takeover or supernatural demons being raised from hell or something insane like that, but that could just be me...xD |

To me, this song is about, not necessarily first time, but new exposure to sex at a young age and the feeling of having no idea of obligation to the person besides sex, and being a little drunk on youth/love. |
