I think it's: "And the pale blue worn-through made a fine silhouette" because I think he's refering to either a night gown or something similar where he can see through it to "her composition" below. That entire stanza is spent describing the woman in the song, IMO. |

I think when listening to these lyrics, one can tie many of the descriptive phrases could be a reference to smoking weed/being stoned. "eyes ablaze", "sleeping but awake" "chin down to you chest", maybe as if taking a bong rip or just being really relaxed. "Your eyes were just blatant hints at your elevation" "singe your throat" "beneath the smoke" But I think without the title as a clue, the song could be interpreted as describing a scored relationship, perhaps a self-destructive but very intense one. Being stoned or high isn't like this for everyone though, this is just relecting his personal experience with it at that moment in his life, in my opinion. |
