No, Roger Waters would not intentionally trivialise the holocaust. I think that these lyrics are fantastic in that they patronise the crap out of our 'great leaders' (war mongers) and really shows what pity Roger has for them and what HE would like to be sen done to them and nothing to do with the holocaust whatsoever. Think about it... is everyone in? are you having a nice time? now the final solution can be applied I think he sees the Fletcher Memorial as a mental institution and the final sentance refers to the 'final solution' as being a lethal injection. As you posted this comment 4 years ago, you may not care anymore but hey, don't want you to believe that this is about the holocaust. Roger hates war / the destruction of human beings full stop so this would make him a hypocrite. |

BrainDamage, I do like your version but surely you mean Argentina and not Venezuala? The song was written just after the Falkland conflict and believe that Aregentina wanted to join the 'War Mongers' memorial club. However, 'Meat Packing Glitterati' I thought may be associated with 'Frey Bentos' meat pies but FB is from Uruguay. Any thoughts? |
