| These are not official lyric posts from The National. There are so many incorrect lyrics provided from High Violet on the link you just posted. So no, everyone is not wrong. The band didn't post their lyrics officially anywhere, so they are anyone's guess. | |

There is a small mistake in the lyrics posted above. At least from what I am hearing on both live performances and on the record. Instead of "I had a hole in the middle someone's sideshow wouldn't do it" it should be "I had a hold in the middle someone's sideshow to do" Slight fix but I am almost 100% sure it's correct. |

I think equivalence and scarl are right except for this: "It takes a while to settle down My shivered bones Until the panic sets" I think it is "until the panic's out" There is a clip on youtube on the live VEVO concert at Brooklyn Music Academy where backstage they are singing in it with a background vocalist and it's pretty clear that it's "panic's out". Also that would make more sense considering he is talking about it taking a while to settle down and go to sleep. If the panic was setting as he was trying to do this he would never sleep. However, once panic goes away then you can finally calm down and sleep. Makes more sense. Awesome song! It is much more powerful live than on the record though. |

| Nice! I have seen them 3 times. I went to the cd release show in Seattle for the self titled album and saw them 2 other times in Cleveland. They are always a treat. I would definitely recommend Carissa's Wierd for sure though if you are a Grand Archives fan. It's definitely slower, and darker, but the combination of Mat Brooke and Jen Ghetto vocals is just amazing. If you want to check any of it out I have the whole discography. E-mail me or something and I can figure out a way to send it to you. delpchris@gmail.com | |

| I honestly just think he says "and I can't decide how to make this end any other way." If anything I would say it could be "alive." But I feel more strongly about what the first suggestion I made. Who knows, wish they would have had a lyric book with the album. | |

Thanks for posting this lyrics iangurteen! I have been waiting for someone to attempt to post these. Something small that needs changed is I believe it's "But the dancer gave you no reward when you were standing on your broken toes all night." Small fix but I am pretty sure that is it. As for the second part, I've been trying to figure out the repeated line forever. This is what I think it is, but this is a total guess too. Tomorrow will take care of them It's time to learn the cold again Tomorrow will take care of it It's time to learn to cope again Mat seems to layer lyrics like this. A perfect example is in the Somedays Are Better Than Others song by Carissa's Wierd. Somedays are better than others Some people are to Some feel alot better than others Just Look At You. Each vocalist says a different line and then they just layer them on top of each other. I think the same thing is going on with this song. Saying all that though I could be dead wrong haha. |
