For the Hapa Club part, if you google that term, you'll find that Columbia University is one of the only private colleges that has a hapa club. So while visiting here, he was probably surprised that none of the schools in California have a hapa club since I think California has a high mixed asian population. I'm a hapa, so there has to be more of my type here. That's just my guess. |

I also think Contra was named after what srsizzy wrote, but also a bunch of other things as well. I believe it's used as a blanket term, so it's more abstract than that. But I guess indirectly, the album is named after Contra Costa County among many other things. |

Haha. Good guess, but no. I'm from Contra Costa County and all there is here is a bunch of suburbs. They probably made a reference to Contra Costa because contra is in our name and we're also from California. But in an interview, Ezra said that he was primarily inspired by 80s SoCal. |
