I don't think its like that at all. I think its darker. I think its about watching someone - in this case someone you're close enough to know - plunge into this masochistic state of mind. They're doomed, and yet they've become so cynical and closed that all they can do is feel find this type of freedom in it. Its a release, to let go of trying so hard. "Its like you never had wings.." ..They let go of the person they once were. "You feel so alive.." ..Yeah, they don't give a fuck. The gun mentioned in the end of the song can be a metaphor for finally letting this person push you away. You gave up. |

having related profoundly to this song, i believe that its a story about a man being completely oblivious to the love a woman has for him - passionate, soul-shattering love - and its killing her. she wants to move on, it hurts too much. he's been too busy living in his own world, preoccupied with his own loneliness to see what's been going on. in the very end, he understands but its too late. (all through a third person omniscient perspective, which i think has been confusing people.) |
