I now know where the "boss" stole his gruff voice, without most of the subtle intonations of Waits'. It's no surprise he "covered" Waits' elegy too, sucking it dry of most of the soul. I hear the "boss" recently came out in favor of gay marriage too. Guess his fan base is dwindling. You can so hear the voice of someone who doesn't care in Waits' voice, doesn't care that nobody's listening, and has us listening so spellbound at the same time. |
