It seems in the first verse, he's starting to have doubts, saying he doesn't give a shit if something happens, but when it's going to happen, he gets very anxious, because it's inevitable to happen. The chorus speaks of something or someone, much like drugs or a past lover that is holding him back in life because he keeps going to it, but it's not there, or not there anymore. Much like coffin nails, because once they're nailed into a coffin, they're virtually impossible to get out of. I think the second verse in the song just shows how hollow his emotions are to cover up his depression. In the bridge of the song, he repeats part of the pre-chorus in such a way that it seems like he wants to change, and he's asking, "How Will I break free" as opposed to, "How CAN I break free". The ending of the song just repeats the chorus, so we never know if he does, or doesn't "Break free", which is why I think this song was written. It was written just to connect with the audience, to see if someone's ever felt held back by something or someone, because the song would lose meaning to someone if maybe it ended with him breaking free, and someone who's listening did not yet break free, or vice versa.
