Aw I love this song. He wants the real new york back.
I spent most of my childhood in dirty gritty brooklyn with immigrant stores and small neighborhoods of blue collar people. Now that area is completely gentrified with wealthy people coming in from the midwest and pretending they have been there forever. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't insist on changing new york into the same place they are trying to get away from. |

i abs love this song. I am a kind of introvert too, I have to get away from people after a long day and just gel. When you're by yourself you feel free from judgement and you can listen to your music and dream freely. None of my friends know that I like to watch sailor moon secretly and eat my weird foods like pickle sandwiches and daydream that my little cartoons I'm doodling will become famous and published someday. as much as i hate the idea of this song being this easily defined or about something like iraq, the imagery in the song does match up. the desert, the insatiable need for something, the violent imagery of crashing, corpses, warring eyes. okay. yeah i can get behind this. |
