LCD Soundsystem – New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down Lyrics

Aw I love this song. He wants the real new york back.
I spent most of my childhood in dirty gritty brooklyn with immigrant stores and small neighborhoods of blue collar people. Now that area is completely gentrified with wealthy people coming in from the midwest and pretending they have been there forever. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't insist on changing new york into the same place they are trying to get away from. |

"Madras is a lightweight cotton fabric with typically patterned texture and plaid design, used primarily for summer clothing–pants, shorts, dresses and jackets. The fabric takes its name from the former English name of the city of Chennai, India.
One style popular during the 1960s was called BLEEDING MADRAS. It used dyes that were not colorfast "

art is not that easily interpreted. not everything is about a girl or is the literal meaning of the lyrics.
proof that your interp is off? death of an interior decorator is an homage to a woody allen film about a mentally unstable mother. |

when i hear this song I'm reminded of the scene in forest gump where the girls in the bar are talking about how new years is just like starting over and forgiving all the things you've done and forrest says he couldnt help wondering where jenny was and what she was doing then. it covers all the themes he covers in this song |

i abs love this song. I am a kind of introvert too, I have to get away from people after a long day and just gel. When you're by yourself you feel free from judgement and you can listen to your music and dream freely. None of my friends know that I like to watch sailor moon secretly and eat my weird foods like pickle sandwiches and daydream that my little cartoons I'm doodling will become famous and published someday. Its my sanctuary from life when it gets tough... :) |

as much as i hate the idea of this song being this easily defined or about something like iraq, the imagery in the song does match up. the desert, the insatiable need for something, the violent imagery of crashing, corpses, warring eyes. okay. yeah i can get behind this. |
