To me, this is the ultimate love song... "You say stay and never leave", because you want us to stay together. But I broke it up "I could believe you but I won't", because I don't really believe you ("I know you wont"). But then I realize "I was wrong". I messed us up but I regret it, and now you've got a new man and "I can love my fellow man, but I'm damned if I'll love yours". So, now "I don't wanna talk this over". Once I loved you ("was quite impressed") but now I (tell myself I) no longer do ("until I hit the floor"). And "pain looks great on other people" but not on me... This is one of the songs that helped me make it through my separation some 8 years ago. That was a hard time, but this whole CD and especially this song, helped me hold myself together. |
