OneRepublic – All The Right Moves Lyrics 16 years ago
I think you're right on, xjustaie! I would tend to agree with you. Your explanation was my first impression of the song when I looked at the lyrics. I don't think the song is about a romantic relationship; there's not much lyrical support for such a claim. Nice explanation, by the way. :)

I agree with duckgoquack. I don't think the song is talking about a (romantic) relationship between a man and woman. I believe the song is making a socio-political statement. (disclaimer: I'm not a conspiracy theorist, and I'm the kind of person who believes that song artists always have some secretive, hidden motive behind the lyrics of their songs. I simply think that the lyrics to the song put forth a self-evident message.) I think the song is dealing with two basic groups of people, possibly an upper class and a middle class. It seems that the middle class is made up of those who "have got it good" while the upper class "have got it made." The upper class may even include (but is not limited to) corrupt political leaders in our government (They got all the right friends in all the right places. They got all the right moves and all the right faces.) These corrupt leaders or people of influence are abusing the authority given them, and the middle class recognizes this, as is evident in the chorus: "Everybody knows, everybody knows where we're going, yeah, we're going down." It's almost as if the middle class has now realized that though they thought they had "it good," the upper class has "got it made" at the expense of the middle class. Also, the lyrics seem to imply that the upper class has been slowly crushing the lower class ("I know things are looking up, but soon THEY'LL take us down"). Anyway, I could go on and use other lines of the song to support my interpretation, but I won't draw this out. I know there's a possibility that I could be wrong, but for now, this is the interpretation that I think is best supported by the lyrics. Peace out.
