Sevendust – Picture Perfect Lyrics 1 month ago
I think the song is about remorse for how you treated someone in the past. The present day memories allow for a "Picture Perfect" point of view, where you can take a step back and realize the gravity of how horrible you treated someone. The song is like an apology where the subject is asking for forgiveness.

Eve 6 – Inside Out Lyrics 1 year ago
Ok, to me, this is not a breakup song. This song is about "trying to make it" in the L.A. arts scene, whether its music, or screen writing. Dealing with rejection, mind games, putting up with bullshit gatekeepers. I think when he talks about, "Rendezvous, then I'm through with you", he is talking about putting his heart and soul into a project, getting rejected, and saying, "Fuck you, on to the next one".

Slipknot – Duality Lyrics 1 year ago
I think this song is about dealing with a mental illness. Your brain is raging with crazy thoughts and anger. To slow it down "you push your fingers into your eyes" to calm down your headache. You feel a pain that nobody can understand, and you feel like if you can't get out from under this crushing mental illness, you are not going to make it...i.e. you are probably going to kill yourself cause this is no way to live. "All I've got is insane" is what the subject thinks of his life. Everything about his life is insane and he feels so much rage that he can't fucking deal. It is an emotional cry of rage and hopelessness........I feel this song

Nirvana – Something in the Way Lyrics 2 years ago
I think this song is about mental illness and homelessness. "Something is in the way" of the subject being able to live a "normal" life, so he resorts to living under a bridge, under a leaking tarp, eating grass, and fish. Nobody sane would choose to live like that.

Level 42 – Something About You Lyrics 2 years ago
Ok my take. The verses are about a married man who is remembering and fantasizing about an ex lover, thinking about "what if" or what would life be like had things worked out with the ex.

Then the pre-chorus is from a distant voice/observer of the situation, saying here you go again, you are being drawn into the stream of undefined illusion. Those diamond dreams can't disguise the truth. Meaning, your imagining a fantasy, not reality. Everything is perfect in a fantasy because it's not real.

The married man snaps back into reality realizing that his wife is everything and more than he could have asked for, and he realizes that there is something special about his wife, that if he could choose anyone, he would still choose her "I wouldn't be without you, baby tonight"

I feel like the next verse he is thinking about his wife, and how their love might not be openly obvious, but he believes they have feelings for each other (he just isn't sure because he is missing that physical affirmation i.e. no sex) He realizes he/they are not living what he initially visualized of as the perfect love, and he is wondering if they have fell out of love with each other. He is thinking that if they have fallen out if love, that is okay because they're only human.

Then the distant voice/observer comes back and reminds the man that being in a long and committed relationship can add to the confusion, when trying to bridge the gap of understanding if they actually have a true love even without the lustful passion. The distant voice/observer reminds the man that those years of time will reveal how true and real their love is.

The man again thinks to himself, "wow there really is something special about my wife, and I wouldn't want to be without her, even if I I had the choice to have a passionate affair, because we have the real deal, which is true love.

Rush – Hand Over Fist Lyrics 7 years ago
I think it is about Neil's natural inclination towards being anti social. It takes him a great deal of effort to come out of his shell, but when he does, he feels that connecting with other humans can be very rewarding.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – By the Way Lyrics 10 years ago
So in a general sense I think this song is about life as a "rock star" in a huge band ( i.e RHCP) on tour, and taking a step back to think how crazy and intense that lifestyle is. The subject (Anthony) is remembering how it seams to all be a blur but memories (tour highlights) of chicks he met on the road stand out. He is "overloaded" with stimuli from the blur of the crazy tour life, but he is left with a few tender beautiful memories. He is hoping that he treated these women well, with respect, and didn't tell lies because it all happened so quick, and he didn't get to say any formal goodbyes. This is just my general hunch.

Howard Jones – No One Is To Blame Lyrics 11 years ago
I think the song is coming from the perspective of a same sex relationship. When this song was first released, it was very taboo to be a gay man in the US, hence "in the closet". I think this song is about a man loving a man, but they can't live a normal life because they have to be secretive about everything. They question why life has to be like this, and there isn't anyone they blame for their situation.

The Wallflowers – One Headlight Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is a guy who is depressed after the death of his girlfriend. He feels like there isn't anything left for him in this life, so he is planning his suicide to reunite with his girl. "Come on try a little" he is trying to get himself motivated to kill himself. "Nothing is forever", life is short, we are all going to die, so why not speed up the process. "There's got to be something better than in the middle", "in the middle" is referring to this life, and he thinks anything is better than the life he is living, even death. "Me and Cinderella, we'll put it all together, we can drive it home, with one headlight." ,"Me and Cinderella", means he will attach his battered and bruised soul with the essence of perfection (Cinderella), and they will find peace and happiness traveling to their destination (Heaven) by way of a damaged vehicle (the damaged vehicle being the act of a suicide).

Living Colour – Pride Lyrics 11 years ago
Man I love this band, I love Will Calhoun as a drummer and composer, and I love this song he wrote, but he/they seem to

really have an anger/hatred of white people. Please don't assume that all whites are evil.

Alana Davis – The Weight Of The World Lyrics 11 years ago
Wow no comments on this song? This song is absolutely beautiful. The lyrics are deep so I am not 100% sure, but I will take a stab at a basic interpretation.

I think it is about a girl who built her life on the foundation of someone's promises, and that someone ended up not being true to those promises, which shattered this girl's whole world. She is trapped under the rubble of her broken and devastated life. She can't move on or escape the sadness, and maybe also some financial burdens that she accepted based on the promises/lies of the person that had deceived her.

Each day she prays that her situation will change, that the person will come through on their promises. She has to hide behind a facade that everything is fine when deep down inside she is hurting so bad.

She is sad and angry but there is nobody around her that she can blame. She hopes that the situation won't repeat itself, but nothing changes as people continually lie.

The Winery Dogs – I'm No Angel Lyrics 11 years ago
I think the lyrics are pretty self explanatory. A guy who has not made the best decisions in his life feels that he is not good enough for most women.

I like the line "My misfortune dance with me" as it has a double meaning "My Miss Fortune, dance with me". Cool song.

The Winery Dogs – Desire Lyrics 11 years ago
This is about a guy who really likes, and still has feelings for, a girl that he used to be in a relationship with. When they broke up, he felt like she really screwed him over and he was hurt pretty bad by her actions. Now, after all their history, she is coming around again and making advances. He wants her and desires her in a physical nature, and wants to reciprocate her advances, but he holds himself back because he can't forget and get past how bad she treated him before.
The last line is supposed to read "though I want you so, I don't think that I can let go."
This is a great song!

The Winery Dogs – Elevate Lyrics 11 years ago
Wow am I really the first post for this incredible song? This song is about a mere mortal human that that is striving for perfection. He wants to feel as if his potential is not wasted. It is almost like the subject is calling out to God for help. Towards the end I think the lyrics posted above are incorrect. "I'm done taking the test don't test me. My troubled mind is a mess. I'm only trying my best to be supreme!" Great song by a great band!

The Presidents of the United States of America – Lump Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is written about "the load" a guy is about to blow by jacking off. Not trying to be graphic, but I thought it was obvious. "Lump" is semen. He is trying to get it out of his "head" which is basically his dick.

It seems obvious the song is about sperm that is ejaculated and they are making some funny play on words describing this.

I think this song is about how he fell in love with living in San Francisco. "The way you move ain't fair you know" could be about earthquakes. It could be about a girl, but I think it is about San Francisco, and the inspiring vibe he gets from living out there.

Adam Lambert – Whataya Want From Me Lyrics 15 years ago
Songs about two people in a relationship. One of them has been hurt many times and doesn't trust the other because they think it is too good to be true. They think the other person can do so much better so they ask "What do you want from me" wondering why they would ever want to be with them. They also say don't give up, because after sometime, they will learn to trust again.

Supertramp – Just Another Nervous Wreck Lyrics 16 years ago
This song sounds like someone who was on the path to achieving their goals but got sidetracked into a "normal" life where they got married, had kids, and maybe even bought a house. Somehow that marriage turned and now they are getting a divorce. The character is so absorbed with the stress of trying to deal with the divorce and the financial burdens that he can't even begin to focus on trying to pursue his dreams again.

The end sounds like he is trying to get all men who have been screwed over in a divorce or breakup to join forces and revolt! lol Great tune, one of Tramp's finest.
