Reminds me of my ex. In the beginning he pretended to be someone, someone he wants to be or someone she would want to be in a relationship. *people abused as a child have many issues and struggle with a sense of self, they have deep rooted rage and loose touch with there feelings* As time went on with my ex, we started having problems. It was not conflict that slowly changed us for the worst but more so my feelings always being the "problem". He was unable to really love me, as he was never really taught what love is. When I tried to love him, it would trigger rage in him. He hates himself on some level and wanted me to hate him. He warned me of some of the "sins" he committed but said he changed. When I realized he had not he reminded me that he never said he was a "saint". He was afraid to be loved and face his dark heart, so he destroyed us. But I know he wanted to love him, he just did not know how. This would make him so angry towards me, and he really hurt me. It took me many years to understand him and realize what I had done, the way he saw me through his eyes. The hurt I caused him by knowing his truth but still loving him and wanting to work through it. His lies, addictions, and hurtful behaviors were always to keep me distant from his heart. But I will never hate him, "be his friend till the end" as I vowed to do, despite our divorce. I just had to learn how to protect myself and sometimes I have to tak a break from all communication with him, at times it is just to hard to cope. It would be easier for him if I hated him, but that will never happen. |

He knows he is lucky to have her but it is not enough, he is unable to love her He can not even recognize what he is letting go. His addictions make it easy to forget her, making it easy to let her go. But he has intense moments where he realizes this "regrets" He continues his cycle of addiction to numb his pain, he can not deal with losing her. He is not that "special" but he pretends to be to hide the truth, he can not love while being an addict. He feels deceived that she sees through him, knowing what he is thinking and feeling despite the false image he portrayed. He can not understand how she broke through,he is lost and does not want her to know. She knows and she still loves him, wants him to get better. He does not understand how she could sympathize, strange to him He has never experienced such love. He finally sees through his denial, able to see how he not what he pretended to be. Her love broke down his walls, she forgives him for this but she knows she has to let him go if he does not get help. Him facing life and breaking through denial is stranger then her understanding of him. He has been a stranger to himslef for so long, but she helped him find himself. Love can conquer all! |

When someone understands the real you. Taking drugs daily to escape. Apologizing for not being able to live up to the dreams they shared. Fear of recovery, pushing her away instead of living sober. I think it is defintely about compromise in a relationship. Waiting at the borderline is expressing she is waiting at the 1/2 way mark. I think he could be all talk but no action. Sometimes men say so much and sweep a woman off her feet initially but then when you realize it, you can not go any further with the relationship. Some men can not go past that point and it is like being in two seperate realities. Also could be a man who is over the top and wants way to much from the relationship, expressing to the woman needs she can not live up too. But I think it is definitely about two people who are in love but are at a cross road and they are being stubborn. More so the man because she is the one asking to meet her half way...lying alone in a paradise that they could be in if their was compromise. They are both suffering none the less and want to be with one another. But in love wanting to be with someone is not always a healthy desire, especially if there is lack of balance. :) |
