I think this song is about a kid who has been rejected by a girl and who is now pretending he doesn't love the girl, even though he's heart broken. the line about taking a hiding (taking a hiding is Scottish slang for being beaten) as a child is referring to him being beaten when he was younger and him learning to pretend he didn't care. Its about covering up your vulnerabilities to the world. |

I think this song is about the difficulty of having a good soul and trying to help people who cant necessarily be helped. Lisa tries to help the girl who was abused but she cant, she's too nuts. Lisa then tries to help a hooker (Chelsea) who was being abused by her clients (knocking school means brothel i think - as in knocking shop, Brit slang for brothel), by getting her to move to a gay brothel but then Chelsea falls in love with Lisa, but Lisa cant love her back. The frustrations of being a beautiful person surrounded by the mess that is life! Thats my interpretation anyway. |
