Pretty much, he had an amazing relationship with someone, but for whatever reason, it fell apart. He's trying to win her back because he loves her so much and feels horribly empty without her. He's always firmly believed in logic, but he realizes now that reason can't possibly compare to passion or the feeling of love. At the same time, he just wants a clear answer; they've been "running in circles," and he just wants to know if she loves him or not. |

I remember listening to this song over and over again when the boy I had left my boyfriend for revealed himself to be a player. When Forrest talks about understanding if his love is too busy with Hawaii to talk to him, I could really relate. If the boy was too busy with the more promising girl, I would have to understand that he wouldn't speak to me.
At the end, when he talks about waiting for his love until she's ready, I could really relate to that, too. I told myself he was really a special boy, and I'd wait, even if we could only be friends.
But the Hawaii verses are really what struck me the most.
Beautiful song; probably my favorite. |

I can relate to this song so much... I'm in love for the first time, and, I think it's really just the speaker saying that she'll love this person so much that she'll do anything for them, but she doesn't want them to hurt her. It's also a very simplistic love song, too, which I admire. |
