but anyone have any idea what calling the cousin "caterpillar" might mean?? . i think the references to "native son" might refer to american indians and the lyrics are sarcastic, mocking the idea of white man paying 2.99 a gallon for water. the caterpillar cousin; hes happy not to have to pay rent anymore, even tho hes dead...greed? the soldier, maybe he "sells" his dreams to a psychologist? but i dont know why ethan frome is here. its such a tragic story... |

ive always wondered if this song is autobiographical. its pretty clear that its about a guy whose lost his love to someone richer or more powerful and how its corrupted her ("you used to have such a pretty pretty smile/but look at you now") |
