That's someone going back" I'm just gonna take a guess here... Science says that the sun can't burn forever, just like the common notion that the earth can't last forever, ya know? It's too hard to predict the EXACT time the sun will go out, or the earth will stop (ex. global climate change), etc. It's just not something we can accurately predict. However, maybe what Oberst is saying is that he can metaphorically prove science wrong by going to Moab where the "sun" (or maybe he's making a metaphor to "the heaadlights coming toward us" as the sun) burns forever, because there is always "someone going back" (bringing the "sun")? ha, hope that helped and actually made sense to someone!
