I would agree with the gist of what @[Synthem:51494] is saying in that the "you" person being addressed here is clearly not wanted and she is going to great lengths to establish how little sway this person has over her. I would, however, go one step further: This is not merely some random beautiful stranger who is attempting to get in her pants, this is a toxic ex who she is glad to be out from under (literally and figuratively). This is why she's putting so much emphasis on how free she is now that this person isn't affecting her mood anymore. This is also why she is/was in need of a "remedy" to begin with. Toxic relationship has ended, you need to get your head clear. And it is also why this other person, the anonymous person she's now dancing with and having no-strings fun with is considered a full-blown "ENEMY" by the "you" character. A non-toxic adult person would move on, but this "you" is stalking her from the shadows and seething at the idea that there's somebody else. If you know people like that, narcissts and borderline abusers, you know that's how they view the world. |

A lot of the things said here seem quite true to me. I didnt read all 8 pages, but one thing I see differently than the posts I read so far: the lines I'm just sitting in my car and waiting for my... She's scared that I will take her away from there dreams that her country left with no one there Imho dont refer to the girl being hypnotized or caught in the propaganda at all. I immediately - almost upon first listening - got the impression that the girl was one of the protesters at Tiananmen square --> taking part actively in the protest. He, the guy, on the other hand, was not taking part. Hes sitting passively at the side in his car, waiting for her to be done protesting basically. He does see the problems with the current regime quite clearly mind you, but he would much prefer to run from this oppressive country together with his girlfriend. She is scared of doing that however, because she fears for the future of her home country, she does not want to abandon it, does not want to give up hope etc. ("her country left with no one there"). Anyway.. thats my take on those lines and .. basically on the core of the "story" ;) Best song on the album imo. |
