I think this was about Carl. This is just right after The Libertines, so these are like early songs of Babyshambles. And Pete was really hurt and angry at the same time about Carl. You can see how he feels in Who The Fuck Is Pete Doherty. It's just heartbreaking. So I really think it's about Carl. |

"Pale, thin girl with eyes forlorn." I think the girl here is Lorraine. A girl Pete met, she's a ballerina so I guess that explains her being thin and pale. Plus, Pete described her of having really sad eyes. He liked her, and he wrote this on one of his diaries in Books of Albion. So I guess, she's the girl here. It was 1999. |

i think it's a mixed message of everything he's sad about. i read in something about what he posted it and i'm not sure whether it's for carl or his dad but it's your own interpretation. here it is: June 5 2003, 3:12 PM Hey kid, look what you did.... I just think this song is like Albion. If Pete is describing how Albion is, he's describing how Arcady is here. Arcady is the world Pete made. That cigarette grows from trees and stuff like that. It's really nice because Pete is just telling us here that if we can't have a world that we want. We could just make one on our own. :) |
