Sounds like Colin's observation on the movement of his life and those around him. This is one of my personal favorites of his. |

The video for this song is incredible, low budget but so surreal and imaginative. |

I think the aim of most Colin Newman songs is an ambiguous feeling so it's hard to put an interpretation to words. However I think it's about putting up a tough front but beneath it the humanity is still there to laugh and cry. |

| Colin Newman – Life on Deck Lyrics
|
It sounds to me like he is losing his motivation in life, not getting any help so he is just lying around thinking about his dreams and how they have changed.
I think the best line is "The cat sat on the carpet, I just lay here like a lump" It's pretty humorous. |

This song is morphine. There is a link between dreams and morphine as Morpheus was the god of dreams in mythology but that's trivia. This song probably is about a drug adiction, that's the "business farther down". |

What a great song, Mark Lanegan is such a haunting singer. This song reeks of cigarette smoke and empty whiskey bottles. |

I always heard "Can't speak another word" before "as far as you know". I really love this song how the bass is hammering in one ear and the guitar in the other. It'd have to say its about distorted perceptions you get while you are high, maybe the the guy who is tripping out is 18 and feels like he died. Hey it happens. |

I love this song, it seems like something dark is seething beneath the surface of this happy jingle. Probably because Bauhaus just has that dark edge |

| Bauhaus – Hair Of The Dog Lyrics

A folk remedey for as rabid dog bite was to place the hair of the dog that bit you into the wound. People also say this phrase went treating a hangover with more alcohol. These men are using what hurt them to treat the pain
Man who was hungover from alcohol, kept on drinking! |
