This song is actually about the way society programs us with our schools, media, parents, peers... to act in a certain way (a way which we have control over). This problem is actually unsubstantial because it can be healed. Michael Jackson is admitting to being programed by society from a young age possibly through the maladaptive relationship with his father joe jackson. The song speaks out against negative attitudes and cynics in regard to world issues (such as the lack of care for one's neighbors). "predictions fly of doom" could be in reference to the currently prevailing negative trend of society. Which is bullshit. 2012 is not about the end of the world its about a new beginning. The line "it ain't too much stuff" is perhaps in reference to what some may call materialism that is running ramp id... the old fallacy that "things are more important than people." which is bullshit. BUT on the other hand what may appear to the "baby boomers" as a lost, misguided, generation may actually be a generation of visionaries. A generation of visionaries who APPEAR to be simply misguided, mentally ill, and neurotic ("it ain't too much stuff") when perhaps they are trying to change the world for the better by keeping an open, hungry mind...balanced with compassion. The word "Jam" is in reference to music. In the 1960s when music wasn't plagued with the ego, lack of teamwork, care, and humility... People used to get together and say "Lets Jam." From that point on a friendship would begin to seed. A deep friendship a long with the beginning of some really kick ass music and fun times. And that's where the power is. Music.
