hang on... you're upset with eminem for his inflammatory language towards women and how he incites violence towards women. now i can understand that to some degree. yet what does confuse me is someone complaining with the username "Kill Avril"... i'm guessing you mean avril lavigne...a woman...that your name incites violence towards...? |

the bitterness in this song is very apparent, something which really draws me.the lyrics are steeped in emotion and beautiful imagery as always with the Park. i feel as though this song is supposed to be about a secretive relationship. I think the bloke is finding it hard to lie and keep secrets and after being "found out" now realises they can't see each other anymore (something which is perhaps enforced by the woman, possibly suggesting there is a third person in the relationship i.e. another boyfriend). it is about coming to terms with the situation and realising that things cannot change. "In Shallow water you still drown, Well I've spent my life face down, The situation hasn't changed, There's still a sea between us, And all our islands have collapsed" and finally, with apparent success, battling to erase her from his life "and we both know it's time to let you, my memory is fading fast" |

a powerful song about a man who allows his own infidelity to feed him with the paranoia that if he is cheating then surely his partner is also hence his "own cheating heart" makes him "cry" as he is consumed with guilt. the lyrics are brilliantly simple yet brilliantly emotive "it's funny how me fucking her about has got me in this fucking mess" there is something about the strong scottish accent that really makes this song even more desperately moving. beautiful song. |
