i think the song is pretty straight forward. basically saying to quit being so uptight and scard about thing. if you like a girl/guy, quit worrying and tell them. or if your going to do something, dont hesitate and just do it. the line "you always fold just before your found out", meaning that your intent on doing/saying something, but when your up to bat (metiphorically speaking) your get shy/nervous and give up. like a game of poker. you can look at your hand, and see a 4 of a kind. but your still scared that someone might have a higher hand, despite how small the chanses are, so you fold before they realize how great your hand is. also the ling "why dont you sho me a little bit of spine" basically says to stop worrying about the what ifs, and go for it. to "dance" thats my interpretation of it anyway. and honestly, since i started seeing the lyrics in this manor, iv become a bit less shy and started breaking from my shell a littl bit ^^. |

the little message im getting is something about religion fucking people over. "all your talk of a kingdom above", and "can you help me fuck young boy's/minds for free" (a catholic priest refference, lol). basically saying that religious nuts are going out of their way to brainwash younger people. to fuck them (in more ways than one...apperently o.O' ) even if a person is a good person by nature, religous fanatics will deem them "evil" until they are part of the religion. "everybody in your family has, silent eye's that scream", makes me think of someone in a religous family, but that indevidual isnt all the religous, and his/her family looks down on that person with contempt. and the chorus to me basically saying something like "i dont care about your 'rules'. im going to break them when i see fit. even if it makes me a 'monster' to your standards, in the process." something along these lines (i just dont have a way with words ^^'). i could be WAY off...but thats how i hear it :p. |

i sort of agree with maxfire, to an extent. i get the feeling that he feels himself in hell, for the wrong he's done. and he's fighting and what not (as he said). but im getting the hint that its more of a realistic dream, or as Bwned said, a sort of hallucination. that part being hinted to me by the line "cant wake up in sweat..." either way, great song. a NICE mix of a hard sound, with a melodic one. and WAY better than i thought it was gonna be. i knew that their work on this new ablum would be great, but...just not the same without jimmy. but i feel like this song truly honors the rev. |

i pretty much agree with bobbyjoedik. and malice has certainly got a point that diserves some thought. really though, its a pretty streightforward song, if you can decypher metephors well. one thing trivium is great at. using metephors in a non cheesy way. really though, i just wanted to say, that this song makes me think of lelouch from code geass, lol. the very first time i heard the song, i heard the line "with the whole world, my firing squad". i thought of lelouch leading the black knights, as his "firing squad" (though after reading the lyrics in full, i know what it really ment now). and so many other aspects makes me think of him. "living under the rule, of fellow cro-magnon fool. they fear who will lead, so kill to stay still. to me implying what lelouch thinks of brittania. brittanai thinking they have the right to discriminate and kill, but the only ones who should kill are those who are prepaid to be killed. though all brittanain's think they are devine or something.. anyways..just felt like saying that ^^'. one of my favorite songs from this album...hell..one of my favorites from trivium period. |
