This is THE Minor Threat's lyric page, not your place to be elitist towards each other. It's just disrespectful to each other and Minor Threat. I don't care what you listen to, or if they suck or not. Just keep your snarky comments to yourself or make a forum about it somewhere else. Not here. |

The beginning of this song may be from Superbad, but it has a lot of meaning. Why can't friends say "I love you" to each other, because it's gay? Just bringing up a point, but Afkro nailed it I think. |

Yeah, this song is like a kick to Hot Topic's tiny scrotum. It's cool to make your own tees, just please don't sell them. Also add your own cool touches; the last thing any fan wants to see is fifty kids walking around with fifty of the same black and white stenciled t-shirts reading Fugazi. Back on topic, this song applies to just about any store you might see in the mall. All malls are the same, that's why malls aren't fun unless you're just messing around. Example Wet Seal (Most girls I know can't leave home with their gay 80's style leopard skin leggings from Wet Seal), JcPenny, Macy's, Old Navy, HOT TOPIC (Gah hate that place. That one dude from Twilight is all over that store. You like pull back a shirt and there he is...just staring at you.). The problem with these stores is that they rob kids of their individuality and create an army of drones. I guess wearing retardly tight skinny jeans (ball crushers) is cool? Like is it worth not being able to feel your nuts? Let's all wear leggings and straighten our hair! Guys too! We'll have a grand time being different by looking like everyone else! Merchandise sucks because it makes people walking billboards and they know it; they don't even care. They don't care that they're robbing people's imagination; all they know is that they're getting payed for it and that's all that counts. That's what this song is about. It can also apply to just about any company, especially the movie industry (Twilight anyone? People who never even read the books try to look and be like all the people in the movie.). You know how many dudes I see a day trying so hard just to be that one dude that looks like he got swine flu and is always staring? It's ridiculous. |

| The Casualties – Kill The Hippies Lyrics

I agree with what everyone is saying, especially wheredotheducksgo? (good book by Mr.Salinger); you know how Lil Wayne was arrested for weapons? He's a horrible poseur rapper trying to be "straight up" by carrying around a 40. Caliber like he's hardcore. Then there was some other scrotum skunk poseur who's gun went off in his pocket because he was monkeying around with it; then there was some other wanker who was arrested for like a whole arsenal of guns in his car or something. Like what's going on here? Anyway back on topic; this song disappoints me because punk is partially about being open and accepting of other people and ideas; not about the whole fashion (just like the fashion of modern day poseur "rap-stars" (real asstigers if you ask me) is apparently to carry around lots of guns like a slickster) This is an example of when a band tries too hard; kind of like NoFX's new album, it just isn't that great and comes off in the complete wrong way. If you don't like hippies then just don't bother with them unless they're trying to shove their hemp sandals up your bunghole. Simple right? The only time you shouldn't like hippies is when reading about the end of the Vietnam War. They like completely degraded (spat at, punched, crap like that) all the veterans like it was their fault the war started, and that's not cool. I will not lie though, I like the Casualties a lot. |

It sounds like he had a good friend who moved away, or they went on separate paths. "but winter ends, and new leaves grow and now I'll never never never let this go. The way it felt when things turned cold, our bodies freezing as our hearts turned cold." When a good friend of yours moves away, or you part separate ways you often feel bitter or "cold". He reveals he misses that person though when he thanks her/him for just listening to what he had to say even if it wasn't important. |

It's a song about growing up; he used to have a one track mind (getting his drivers license and whatever else he wanted). Now he knows that those things aren't really that fun or important anymore and he's waiting for an explanation of what is. |

Sounds to me like he's singing about he's changed and gotten older: "I watch myself in the fish tank mirror in the corner." and how he's seen the world around him change. "All the fish died for Friday's fish fry." possibly expresses his feeling about wars or problems around the world; world leaders have a grand plan for power and control(Friday's fish fry), but they need people to make it possible (fish). Unfortunately those people are going to have to die to ensure that the plan succeeds to satisfy the leader's thirst for power. In the end the only person who gained anything is the leader who knew the people (fish) would die. "I'm watching a sunken ship." could represent how he feels when he sees powerful individuals failing every day and dragging everyone else down with them (Say an individual from one ethnic group wrongs another from a different ethnic group, the ethnic group that has done wrong is automatically labeled and everyone in that group is labeled as well); he feels he can't stop it. "One Sunday, like a likeable bully, he pulls to a picnic and builds a fire. December embers trickle up, set roots in soil sky as January's stars." this may represent how he feels the years all blend into one, the same stuff every year, never changing. |
