| Personally, I think her lover might have died. The chorus is a bit of a giveaway. If she was trying to get over a break-up, she would be upset by hearing "their songs" on the radio, or "all the songs they used to know." Instead, she listens to the radio of her own free will, and embraces the memories, because that's all that is left of her love. The violin solo seems very whimsical and reminiscent, almost in mourning. Other lyrics make me think this disconnect happened suddenly and unexpectedly, like an untimely death. Lyrics like, "I turn and think that you are by my side," and "my mind... fools me into thinking you are there." So, this song would be about a lover who recently passed, and his/her lover grappling with the shock and despair of their death. | |
