Grand Funk Railroad – I'm Your Captain Lyrics 16 years ago
You obviously have never used heroin; that's not a bad thing.A heroin high is anything but violent. It makes you feel warm, fuzzy and loveable, that's why people get hooked on it after about 2-3 months of everyday use. It's when your in withdrawl that you feel like crap and wish you were dead.
If you've never done it, DON'T!

I agree, I said in my earlier post that this song could mean different things to different people, but when we get down to the nitty gritty I agree with zagwert777. Except, one thing I don't agree with is that pirates have taken over his ship. I think his own crew have taken over the ship. It's kind of like chickens in a barnyard; when one is ill the others gang up on it and try to kill it. So, this captain in the song has come down with an illness, maybe typhoid or malaria, and one of the crew members gets the bright idea that since the captain is down and at his weakest point, they can do whatever they want to him or the ship. The ship is probably carring some expensive cargo also. So, if they take control of the ship they can take control of the cargo and make alot of money.

Anyone can take this song and make it mean whatever they want it to mean. One person here on the forum said that he saw a video on YouTube that said the song was about the Vietnam War. A few other people said the song is about drug addiction. I know one thing, you can compare the song to heroin addiction. When your out there using, nothing else matters, you do feel so far from your home even though you are sitting on a couch in the physical house. And the lyrics that state hands around his neck, that is the hold that heroin or drugs in general feel when you physically and mentally need them to just to get out of bed and function. So, like I said at the begining of my post, this song can mean different things to different people.
