The Shins – Baby Boomerang Lyrics 14 years ago
Marc Bolan wrote about people on the scene back in the 70's (without naming names)--like he did in "Telegram Sam" where he talks about Dylan, and some of his friends naming them "Telegram Sam" and "Purple Pie Pete" and "Jungle Face Jake". He left it up to you to figure out who they were. I'm guessing "Baby Boomerang" was somebody famous on the New York scene at the time. I think it could have been Lou Reed and the uncle could have been Andy Warhol. Who knows; but I think "Baby Boomerang" was an alias for one of those New York underground peoplein the 70's.

Thank you rick626- that is exactly it, in a nutshell. Wasn't Marc Bolan amazing? It seems that he was prescient, somehow aware, in a way so many other people aren't. . .

David Bowie – Moonage Daydream Lyrics 14 years ago
This song, along with "Lady Stardust" is a song for Marc Bolan. Angie Bowie herself called the album "Marc's album" and the working title for "Lady Stardust" was "A Song for Marc". . .I feel that Bowie probably loved Marc(maybe even made love to him)and this is another love song for[about]him. Bolan had a song called "Alligator Man" with the lyrics "I'm an alligator man"--that's what Bowie is referring to with his lyrics "I'm an alligator". . .
