Keane – We Might As Well Be Strangers Lyrics 15 years ago
Well damn, isn't this the story of my life. In my case, it could be about a relationship, but I prefer to see it more as two close friends who've drifted apart, and basically one of them realizes this, and goes on thinking and wondering if the other has noticed the distance between them as well.

As for someone who just can never seem to keep a best friend, and just losing the closest friend I've ever had, well, this pretty much hits home right here.

Jenny Owen Youngs – Here Is a Heart Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is simply amazing.. I wish there were more comments.

Ah well, everytime I listen to this song, without fail it manages to make me tear up and cry. A friend who I haven't really spoken to for quite some while--since we're fighting--had texted me randomly a few days ago sending me this entire song. Just the raw emotion from my friend's reason (and seeing myself in this lyrics as well) for sending it made me want to fall to my knees and cry because I know my friend only wants to make me happy, and while fighting, neither of us can be. And while this song can have so many meanings, my own personal meanings to me fits it pretty well..

Basically Jenny Owen Lewis is awesome.

Wilco – Please Be Patient With Me Lyrics 16 years ago
I.. absolutely love this song. It has to be my favorite by Wilco.

This song perfectly matched up with a fight that I had with my best friend. They had claimed that they had nothing else to say to me for a while, seeing as how they aren't used to having friends in the first place--they are basically a loner. So they told me, "be patient with me," and upon finding this song while we weren't talking, well, I cried. My friend, instead of "warning me when [they're] not well," simply cut me off. But the part that hits me the hardest is the last verse, "How can I warn you when my tongue turns to dust like we've discussed? It doesn't mean that I don't care, it means I'm partially there. You're gonna need to be patient with me."
That one verse summarized my friend's entire side of the fight--where I had thought they didn't want anything to do with me, they really were always there, trying to figure out how to tell me what was wrong with them.

..And the fact that song has the word "apple" in it, is so weird, seeing as how my friend's favorite food is apples.

Sara Bareilles – Gravity Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is just.. fantastic. In all honesty, it is probably my favorite song of all time, and I never seem to get tired of it. Every time I listen, it simply makes me want to play it all over again. I have never cried so much, until I heard this song the very first time. It's unbelievable how many ways you can relate to her writing.

The line "You loved me 'cause I'm fragile, when I thought that I was strong. But you touch me for a little while, and all my fragile strength is gone," has always made me start bawling. It's ridiculous how my throat can just close up from trying not to cry to this song.

To me this song is not about a relationship with a boyfriend, or a partner. But in my situation, I refer it to my relationship with my absolute best friend. In times, they have so much power over me, or a certain "gravity" that even after I fight and fight with them, I am always dragged back by something. It's a sort of unhealthy place to be--yearning for someone's affection, and striving constantly to get away from them, yet, you love and care about them so much that you will never leave. I mean, my friend to me, is "everything I think I need here on the ground".
