you guys are close, but all the comments I have read are wrong concerning the meaning of the third eye. It is most literally the pineal gland. In reptiles the pineal has a iris and a lens, it's an eye. In reptiles it sits on top of the brain moderates the amount of melotinin released according to the light it receives. In humans the pineal has receded to the most protected area of te brain, and it's connected directly to all of the sensory nurons. It has been long theorized that the pineal is the seat of the soul, dmt is the sprit molecule. It is not sprit material ,but is used as a spiritual transport.
