Great song, seems like it's about getting your life back in order after an emotional struggle. The overall message I get from this song (and album, to an extent) is to really appreciate what good you have in life, as little as it may be for some people because it means way more in the long run than the negative things people will say and do. I feel the lines: "Too many faces that turned away/ Start to believe that it's not worth the pain/ but I know I love you" pretty much sum it up |

Well it's been a short 6 years since the last comment but I'll put in my 2 cents anyways (I really hope people still care about/listen to this album, it's by far Saves the Day's best work)... ... This song, as stated by Chris numerous times, is about questioning "The Man"'s ways (be it political figures or corporate owners). Chris is delving into the fact that people who wonder about the meaning of life or question the monotony of an everyday blue collar 9-5 are often told to "shut up and get back in line". Also, the line "Don't try to ask a doctor/ What's going on inside your head" seems to refer to society's somewhat condescending view on people who visit a therapist in order to gain answers in life. Having been in a postion much like the songwriter's perspective really helps understand where he's coming from (obviously). Sometimes it's hard to continue living what seems like a mundane/confusing life and often times you feel powerless to make significant change hence the line "just stare at the ceiling, and play dead your whole life". Lastly, I'm really glad this album kind of grew into itself and people started appreciating it... it's disappointing to see people talk so badly about In Reverie (granted the previous comments are incredibly old) because it's not like STD's early sound. Chris was a little more secure at this point in life and was writing songs about more pressing issues rather than whining about girls and his awkwardness. /essay |

| The meaning of the song is pretty self explanatory... however, if you're in the right (wrong?) place in your life, listening to this song can be a rather powerful experience. | |

I'm pretty sure this song is just referencing how materialistic society is becoming... ... On a side note, I can't believe how many people don't like "In Reverie", it's far more musically sophisticated and evolved than any of Chris' stuff prior to it's release... either way I hope "In Reverie" actually gets a rerelease with all of the b-sides included someday |

I think it's about conquering your inner demons and trying to turn a new page in life. Specifically, becoming more optimistic and not letting your own self-misery get the best of you. It's a catchy tune... can't wait for daybreak |

It's hard to believe Chris could write such powerful lyrics at such a young age...he's a truly gifted human... ...I think this song is about truly missing someone to the point where it physically hurts...no bitterness about it |
