| Modern Talking – Mrs. Robota Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The song is about a man being obsessed with a fictional character. The theme is nothing new, you can find similar examples in Greek mythology. What's interesting here is that it's put in a different context -- technology. | |
| Marilyn Manson – The Dope Show Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This song is pretty old now, but it's meaning is still fresh. To me, it's clear that the lyrics are about consumerism and materialism in general. They also criticise people's obsession with celebrities: "There's a lot of pretty, pretty ones That want to get you high But all the pretty, pretty ones Will leave you low and blow your mind" I wonder why people don't see this... "We're all stars now" is refering to the fact that everybody can become famous now. The song shows how disgusting show business really is and calls it a "dope show": "They love you when you're on all the covers When you're not then they love another" "The drugs they say are made in California" Is a reference to Hollywood. And so on... By the way, I heard that Manson has co-directed the music video. PS. I'm not a big fan of mainstream music, but this song caught my attention because it's well written. |
