A lot of people are right, no wrongs (except maybe that strap on intrepretation). And like a lot of maynard songs from his various bands, he's writing from his experiences, opinions and emotions but when we hear it, we relate it to our experiences, opinions and emotions with songs like this one. From what I'm hearing, it's not just about one thing. Obviously with the song name and actually mentioning it in the song, it sounds like advice from a mother and/or a mother figure (hell even maybe mother nature?). But mainly it seems like it's about how there will be changes in life, there's going to be hardships, heartbreaks, times where you feel so low and depressed nothing seems worth it, etc., but it's a part of life and the advice is to "take it like a man" aka be strong, bad things pass with time, and "keep your dignity" meaning, don't lose sight of who you are and let yourself become the nothing that life and/or people will try to make you feel like. I like LoverLover's interpretation of it as well, Maynard's no fool to the reality that "this pain is just an illusion". In the end, we're all right in our interpretation, hell a song could be very clear as to what it's about, but the meaning of songs with actual, you know depth to them, unlike songs about getting tang and money, is unique to each listener. |

| Alice in Chains – When the Sun Rose Again Lyrics | 14 years ago |

If you're prey.. predators will try to catch you.. when the do.. typically a scream of some sort happens. Hence: Prey, squeal when you're caught. I agree about AIC and TOOL being the best rock has to offer.. but I wouldn't go so far as to compare them, they're different genres different styles. Layne does puts a part of himself in his music.. and Maynard is more subtle about it, not as obvious, it's more of a feeling than just hearing it.. especially in songs about his mother. |

Saw them live and one time she did say "dear all of you" but the others it was "to all of you" Either way, here are the more correct lyrics: ============== I'm not listening to you I am wondering right through resisting With no purpose and no drive Cause in the end we're all alive Alive 2,000 years have been awake Waiting for the day to shake To all of you who wronged me I am I am a zombie Again Again you want me to fall on my head I am I am I am a zombie Hello Hello Hello you pushed me To go, to go, to go before I lie down Dea-ea-ea-ea-ead Blow the smoke right off the tombs Kiss my gentle burning bruise I'm lost in time And to all the people left behind You’re all walking dumb and blind, blind And 2,000 years I've been awake Waiting for the day to shake To all of you who wronged me I am I am a zombie Again again you want me to fall on my head I am I am I am a zombie Hello Hello Hello you pushed me To go to go to go before I lie down Dea-ea-ea-ead Dea-ea-ea-ead Dea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ead To all of you who wronged me I am I am a zombie Again again you want me to fall on my head I am I am I am a zombie Hello Hello Hello you pushed me To go to go to go before you lie down DEAD =============== And whoever put these up, I'm sorry but you're not too bright, it's a song named zombie, who in their right mind would interpret that one line as "Throw smoke right off the tube" .... ... ... .. .... yeah..? |

| Megadeth – Endgame Lyrics | 16 years ago |

the singer-guitarist continues to tackle subjects not often associated with the party-hearty world of metal, including the recent recession ("Nothing Left to Lose"), the greed of the financial world's leaders ("Bite the Hand That Feeds") *and a controversial bill signed by George W. Bush (the title track).* Thanks Rollingstones for interviewing an ACTUAL musician for once :D I like the new album, I get the weird feeling at first too, but then think how long they've been around, Dave makes every song different from the rest, and after a while it might take a different turn, he's still a genius. This song and 1,320 are both great! |

So like to listen to an electronically created smooth sailing voice, one that you love on the CD but in a live performance sucks? Dave Mustaine's voice deepens the intensity of his songs, why? Because it's his voice and his talent. I agree with 4t0utl3m0nd3, he is incredibly unique, and a geinus writer. Watch a live version of this song at the Golden Gods 2009, if you're not blown away by Mustaine, then I don't know what to tell you. |
