| Epica – Chasing The Dragon Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
Saying that "Chasing the Dragon" is about drug addiction doesn't put the other three-quarters of the song into play. Chasing the dragon has two meaning that are important in for this song, It style of smoking heroin that releases fumes from rock heroin. and It also means chasing the next high like its first. This is impossible because the brain changes in the presence of psychoactive drives. In this case the latter is more appropriate When Simon sings about giving up the fight, She means stop "chasing the dragon" and thus regain control of one's life. The first two verses suggest that the subject has lost hope, perspective, ands generally number, The pain, and guilt for do something he feels culpable is overbearing that the subjects feels he needs to self medicate. The subject finds its difficult to find the joy found in simple things like the eating a cookie, a hug or socializes. They are truly a lost soul. The chorus is cautionary, it explains that denying ones humanity and fallabity is a recipe for self-destruction. If you address the issue at hand it will consume from the inside out. Through the second half of the song the "dragon" becomes stronger and its influence becomes stronger. The subject stands helpless as everything he cherishes and loves because a target for the lack of control and addictions. He resorts to property damage and hurts his loved ones. Yet, they set on sideline because there's no control as they sink deeper in addiction "The dragon is raising in my brain, a never-ending game' It a zero sum game, you don't control the drug, the drug controls by hijacking you're synapses and changing you're brain structure to accommodate the drug's mind altering qualities. Finally, the subject realized too late the collateral damage when someone craves the heavy drugs. The withdrawal can kill you, and the maintainance will further pull you from one's you love and isolate you. Moreover, once your tolerance becomes high enough, it becomes really easy to OD on this opiate. The dragon's final lines is emblematic of drug abuse in this situation. "Dolende novit moralis vitam", and "Dolende descit mori mori mortalis" translated in English "By suffering a mortal learns about life" and "By suffering a mortal learns to die" The dragon is chastising the user as being weak, a poseur, for the way that life is precious and to experience life and all its ugliness and its beauty. Ultimately one can suffer that thing we want, and we can deny our existence. However, death is an eventuality and if we want live or die is choice that only we can make. |

| Lacuna Coil – Falling Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| When someone falls, its the presumption that you don't have control over your live or feel out of control. In this song the perceived lack of control is about the fate of someone she cares for. As indicated in the last line "I don't want to die", "please be their when arrive." The importance of the individual is measured is the comfort they provide for her, but she can't come terms that she might lose the love of her life/best friend/mother or father. When someone looks at the sky, someone is seeking answer that they cant provide for themselves. The distress must be unbearable because she would rather die than coping the hollowness or profound emptiness that this loss would cause. | |

This is actually the first part of the 9 part mini-series known as "The Embrace That Smothers". The definition from leaden is dull, heavy, listless and cumbersome So, if the prologue definition is mea culpa which means my sorry. Well, one of the tenets of western religion is effacemen and deferrence to a higher power. However, its system of belief that we're merely vessels to reach a higher existance upon death. We curtail our growth as individual to extent that we can't self-actualized. Religion embraced willingly at the height of awareness is the greatest gift. It surrender oneself when one understand what one sacirfices to embrace a religion. Instead, we follow the tenets that dictate obidence without understanding. Fear rather than reverence. A set of rules that was commenced 2 millenia ago, about god's son that died to forgive our sins. I told to celibrate this embodiment, but how can I show empathy through your version. I need to find a reason on my own turns, my own way. However, earthbound leaders reply that there is only one way to follow religion, and one's self-identity is lost. However, to follow a cult or no relgion at all, will lead to nowhere because indoctrination and repression lead to hollowness and dissatification through a lack of a intrinsic spritual awareness(if not brainwashing). Fear of penace(self induced conditioning to prevent disapproval) Doomed to sycophancy(personal failure to obtain insight as to lead the individual to a shallow understanding. Her prayers are empty fearing a bleak afterlife bereft of solemnity). Unlike Cry for the moon which is a institional take, this is where an individual must find his way, and not follow blindly, because of proscribed reasons. |
