| Hey guys im not sure if any ones said it yet however Matts fiencee left him before this song was written. During the "Five Score And Seven Years Ago" Era, thus the song "Faking My Own Suicide" along with countless others off this album being about that. This song is about him finally dealing with it. Bon Voyage to his fiencee and wishing her a good journy. Hes finally coming to terms with it, cleaning out his closet of the bones. Finding new things in him he didnt know where there "new black shoes" "A love in me". Sayin hes greatful for all his good friends and how they where part of his backup plan. You could even say it was his "faking his suicide" plan that he never did. And finally God is good and he knows that through all the crap in life "the lining is silver" and we are all golden or good inside because of God. | |

So i think this whole song is sung from two diffrent views, Deyrick(ik i spelled his name wrong) and The Devil. These lyrics were taken out of the Bible. They were taken out of the chapter of Revalation in which John (not Paul as some of you have said) has seen a vison of the new heavn and the new earth. Let me break down the lyrics part by part: "This shining city built of gold, a far cry from innocence, There's more than meets the eye round here, look to the waters of the deep. A city of evil. There sat a seven-headed beast, ten horns raised from his head. Symbolic woman sits on his throne, but hatred strips her and leaves her naked. The Beast and the Harlot." This is just talking about the vison John had of Babylon and the seven headed beast and the Harlot. "She's a dwelling place for demons. She's a cage for every unclean spirit, every filthy bird and makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating with our kings. Fallen now is Babylon the Great." Once again talkin about the Harlot and how she is the symbol of evil. also saying that the great city of babylon will fall just like every other city. "The city dressed in jewels and gold, fine linen, myrrh with pearls. Her plagues have come all at once as her mourners watch her burn. Destroyed in an hour. Merchants and captains of the world, sailors, navigators too. Will weep and mourn this loss with her sins piled to the sky, The Beast and the Harlot." This time they are talkin about how Babylon was the greatist city in those times, but like everything else will be destroyed. "The day has come for all us sinners. If you're not a servant, you'll be struck to the ground. Flee the burning, greedy city. Lookin' back on her to see there's nothing around." Saying how everyone in those times thought it was the greatist city, impenitrable. But once again will fall like everyone. Jesus told us the greatist is the servent, and that we should be servents, hence the line if you arnt a servent youll be struck to the ground (go to hell). "I don't believe in fairytales and no one wants to go to hell. You've made the wrong decision and it's easy to see. Now if you wanna serve above or be a king below with us, You're welcome to the city where your future is set forever." This part however is contradictory to the Bible, here they clearly say that they dont believe in this stuff, and if they did they dont want to be servents like Jesus told us to be, they would rather be kings of hell than servents in heaven. The sad part is they are wrong, when they die they will go to hell, but they wont be kings they will suffer an eternal death, a life without God. Not even the devil will be king, he will suffer just as much as the rest of them. The Rev sadly now knows this truth all to well.
