| Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
The beginning is about him coming to terms with the fact that he is no more than just another function of the universe, among so many others. Instead of fighting, or giving up entirely beneath this realization, he instead throws himself mercilessly within the chaos. He knows he is a mere tool, but knows he can still do good, and find meaning through that. But like all who take this route (an all in general), he is lost and confused, but trying his best to keep true. He calls out the uselessness of war, and the greedy few who run our countries. Soon he is overcome with beautiful confusion, but instead of falling utter victim to it, he instead decides he needs not wait for anyone else to make positive changes, and needs not take pity upon himself. The end is framed directly to his lover (perhaps gone from him, perhaps not, and a theme throughout the album), still keeping to the theme - he will work hard and tirelessly to produce good fruit. |

Like they're waiting for your guard to fall So they can see it all And you're so occupied with what other persons are occupied with And vice versa And you've become what you thought was dumb A fraction of the sum Yeah you've become, yeah you have become A fraction of the sum The middle and the front This part to me clearly is about conformity and fitting in with the norm. The person is hiding all their strangeness and being fake to conform |

| the lyrics are so trippy i love it. Its about him coming to understand the nature of the infinite universe and its cycles. I like how it talks about people changing their own memories too. | |

| Modest Mouse – Bukowski Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song is genius. Charles Bukowski was a writer of the absurd man faced with the drudgery of life. It is a very nihilist and anti-religious song about a man faced with the ridiculousness of the notion of God and the ridiculousness and pointlessness of the life that is set in front of him, seeing that in the end everyone loses. Genius song. | |
