| Enya – Orinoco Flow (Sail Away) Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
I believe this song is about setting sail to the without care. Orinoco is one of the biggest rivers in south America and also one of the popular harbors during the sailing age. The rest are mostly Island and city names that were used during the sail age. For example: Tripoli is a shoreline in the Mediterranean sea and the yellow sea is the sea between China and Korea. Bissau is an important harbor in west Africa, and Palau is an island in the Philippines. The only Name that is out of place here is Rob Dickins. Rob Dickins was a chairman at the warner music group from 1983 untill 1998 and he was the producer of this album. The name Ross seems to refere to Steve Ross (son of Rob Ross the painter) who was company owner of Warner Bros at the time. I speculate that what Enya meant by this was that they were sailing off (musically) into new teritories with Rob Dickens (their producer) at the wheel, and they didn't have to worry about Rob Ross's problems keeping the Warner bros a float. This is not 100% accurate, but if you know more about this please let me know. |
