I don't think that "heavy" means weight because the guy changes his had to "NOTHING too heavy." If he was referring to her weight and saying that he didn't want an overweight girl he would probably say no one too heavy instead.

Florence + the Machine – Heavy in Your Arms Lyrics 15 years ago
I feel like this song is more about how the girl loves too much. Her love is too much, too heavy. The man is mighty and great, but does not love the girl nearly as much as she does and so she is dragged and he carries her. It is hard for him to hear that she loves him because he knows that he doesn't love her as much but he stays strong and lets her down gently in the river.

The first verse talks about how the girl idolizes him but her love is too great for him. So he lets her down.

The second verse questions why he did not do it sooner, as if it hurt her more to fall so deeply in love with him. Either way she still loves him even though he does not.

The last verse only reiterates how saying "i love you" was not how it was supposed to be as it caused him dread instead of happiness.

There's no way he could be put off by her from emotional baggage, she never mentions the loss again after the first time. And there's no way she would have thought she saw him, because he sent no picture for her to base his appearance off of.

Either he was turned off because of the "heavy" weight, or he did in fact go and left because he was disappointed. He feels the remorse for being shallow, no matter the case.

Stars – Your Ex-Lover Is Dead Lyrics 15 years ago
The two lovers were engaged in an awkard relationship in a prior time. There was an obvious connection but neither of the two acknowledged how much they loved each other, and so they both felt the other did not really love them; when in fact, they both loved each other dearly, they just couldn't put it in words.

Now, probably years later, they meet and are forced together. His pride leads him to say he was just remembering her name when she wonders if he is sad, about their break up. He doesn't want to be the vulnerable one that is still holding on to the dead relationship. She retorts with bratty remarks about how her skin is porcelain, and demands him to repent. She wants to feel like the better and dominant one as well.

The love they shared interrupts the song, "live through this..." Compared to the other parts of the song, these lines sound very romantic, almost like a dream. The love is still there! But, of course, neither of them is willing to sacrifice their dignity to ask the other to love them again. They sound like little kids who don't want to admit that they were in love, because they were the reason the love was lost.

In the end, they both decide to forego any attempts to reconcile love and they break all connection. Together they chant the last lines to try to convince themselves that they still do not love the other.

"You had to drink to stay alive
But you were hoping it would kill you too
At least you'd have something changing you"

Thats powerful stuff.

Jason Reeves – Photographs and Memories Lyrics 15 years ago
All he has are memories of times without the girl, and instead of just dreaming about being with her, he wants to make more memories with the girl. It pains him to think of her because she is gone, but he cannot function without her memory, even if only a photograph.

BEAUTIFUL.

its amazing how perfect his description of love is. Though there is no more analysis of this song, it is obvious that most everyone can relate to the uncertainty of falling in love and waiting for the lover to reciprocate the feelings.

Leah Andreone – Lamentation Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about a secret relationship, secret from the rest of the world and secret to both of the people in it. The two lovers are obviously romantic, but they both care too much about their outward appearances to enjoy the other's presence, "While your exit seems so effortless
So mean, you don't fool me". Each person loves the other deeper, but they are insecure and cannot read how the other feels. Its as if the couple is trying to prove to other people that there is nothing between these two, when in fact, they are in love. The beautiful love making interlude is interrupted by turning the lights on, which she dreads because the secret will be revealed. The final stanzas represents a pessemistic ending, where the boy leaves the girl probably due to insecurity in how she feels about him. He leaves because he cares more about his appearances more than her again. Communication problems...
