I believe that this song is just a combination of instances where what he believed went against what he was told. The stanzas don't necessarily relate to each other. I will give my thoughts on a couple: "Justified or just a waste of time Hiding things that no one wants to find" I think that this stanza is about the Iraq or Afghanistan war. There were people telling him that the war was justified, but in his mind he thought it all seemed like a waste of time. And i think hes saying that our government was hiding certain things that nobody wanted to know existed. Then the whole alien or god thing also went against his mind. He grew up believing in aliens, but then he was told that what he thought was an alien was actually god. I think the whole point of the song is that people are gonna tell you all sorts of things, and that you have to think independently and not believe everything that you hear. If we don't put all ideas under scrutiny, then we can't advance as a society. |
