Guyya - "i think this song is pretty obvious..... but basically i think its saying that if you think you have it bad, think of someone whose really struggeling." That's exactly what this song is about and no it's not a metaphor for souls in hell,it's about people with problems that most of us have never had to worry about (living in a 3rd world country,homelessness,starvation,persecution and injustice by their people or their government,no one to listen to them,no one to love them,anyone other then ourselves and our own bullshit)...Think about it for a second....how trivial is some of the shit that's got you trippin'? I love this song because when you're feeling down about your own personal bullshit it's a good reminder of how trivial most of it is..not that all of it is...and that no matter what it is you're going through,there is always someone who has it much much worse then you,and I. I love AILD |

To me this song is about an individual suffering from all sorts of depression,maybe feeling un true to themselves and un true t others feeling that those around them are playing them or judging them when they try to open up and express their true self and their true feelings but that no matter what you have to find something,some way and remain true to yourself. It is about having demons and fighting those demons for as long as you must until you eventually rise victoriously,or let the demons take over and ultimately die (metaphor for becoming soulless,nothing more then an empty hollow shell of a being). |

The NUMPTY hit the nail right on the head pretty much.The Downward Spiral is pretty much my whole life wrapped up in one big box." The line "The best thing about life is knowing you put it together" to me personally means he has led a sad,sorrowful,painful life looking for someone to understand him and help him to climb up and out of the downward spiral.This instrumental makes me very depressingly sad,I pray for hope,I want to be saved but doubt I ever will,you see I need to be saved from myself.My whole life I have never known who I was and if I did at one time know,well that is just a faded memory to me.I have let myself down and most importantly those who care about me....as Beck would say "Soy Un Perdidor,I'm a loser baby so why don't you kill me". I've tried for 28 years now,and I don't think there is a hope in the world for me,I'm already past the line of no return,no matter how much I want to change,better myself I just can't seem to do it...I guess you could say I am weak and waste of space and life. |
