I really like this song, i did not like the GM used it in their commercials to sell cars. I would like to point out that this song is very patriotic, the reason i say that is that John Melloncamp is telling us, as the poeple of this country, need to take it back and reign in the wild and mad spending polictians. Return the country to the people, ever hear of the phrases "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,". you know from the Delcaration of Indepence. |

I looked at this song as anti-government to the respect the John Mellencamp wants their to be a government, but dont tread on us either. This is one of my most all time favorite songs from John Mellencamp, also Pink Houses, The Authority Song, Small Town, Rocking in the USA, Peaceful World, Our Country. |
