I believe this song is about someone who isn't happy with where they are in life but isnt willing to actually put in the effort to change things theyd rather just have their dreams rather than to follow them At the beginning of the song I think he's very optimistic and hopeful that things are gonna come up good for him "any minute now my ship is coming in" He's been waiting a long time "I keep checking the horizon" When the change comes he's gonna take it as it comes and roll with it. "i'll stand on the bow---- feel the waves come crashing down" His partner has heard it all before "be still my love" she wishes hed embrace where his life is "open up your heart,let the light shine in" But he is adamant, that if he waits things will get better "don't you understand, i already have a plan" "im waiting for my real life to begin" where they're stuck in life is only temporary his real life is on the way. he just has to wait. The next verse is a bit pessimistic. his life is still stuck in the same place "when i awoke today, suddenly nothing happened" but he still has his hopes and dreams "in my dreams i slew the dragon" Hes had these dreams for a long time but they havent worked out. Hes still in the same point in life "down this beaten path------ walking in my own footsteps once again his partner is urging him to be realistic and just be happy with where his life is and to leave his dreams behind "just be here now" " forget about the past" Hes clutching at empty hope though hes sure something will happen "throw one more dice, i know that i can win" hes still waiting. hes sure things are going to change "theres sure to be that call" hes making excuses as to why it hasnt happened "its just that times are lean" |
