Oooh - what if it's "lies" and not "eyes" in the first line? That would make much more sense, given the allusion to deception. So hold on tightly too your lies And pull the wool over your eyes No matter what you'll always see The outline that is left of me Oooh! I think I've got it! Haha, it toooootally doesn't sound like he's saying that when I listen to the song but dammit, it makes sense. Gar. Supergenius - keep us posted after you meet them! Definitely ask someone to clarify! |

So the issue with "wall" is that you really can't pull a wall anywhere, much less over your eyes. So I don't think that's it. But I think I hear "hold on tightly" now. To "pull the wool over (someone's) eyes" is a common idiom that means to deceive someone. Since the lyrics say "pull the wool over *your* eyes" the artist seems to be suggesting that it's self-deception. As if saying "Go ahead, let yourself be misled from seeing the true reality of our situation." Given this context, I think the lyrics are "and pull the wool over your eyes." | The Fray – Vienna Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Hey - has anyone ever thought that Vienna (both the subject matter dealt with in the song and the title) has connections to the theme about love in movies Before Sunrise and Before Sunset? I was just recommended the movies, watched the trailers and I feel like there might be a connection. Watch the trailers/movies yourself and tell me what you think. | |

No one has posted about what's said at the end of the song as it fades out. I'm not sure, but it sounds like: So go and __?__ me to your eyes and pull the wool over your eyes no matter what you'll always see the outline that is left of me Meh. I think? Maybe? Anyone else have anything better? |
